Treatments

Individual Psychotherapy
My approach to therapy is is integrative, cutting edge, and tailored to your needs. I begin with empathic questioning  to assess your situation. then we discuss a plan and treatment focus. My therapy is inspired by neuroscience of emotion and attachment and mindfulness. We may focus on coping with a specific issue or on broader life themes and changing underlying beliefs about self or others. I often use Schema Therapy to address fixed patterns like fear of failure, abandonment, low self-worth, trust and boundaries, lack of self-discipline etc.
Couples Therapy

I work with couples to help you understand and manage negative cycles in communication or  intimacy that lead to anger and/or emotional distance. Couples that I see are struggling with affairs, destructive arguments, juggling work, parenting and marriage, or effects of childhood trauma and attachment issues. Therapy can help you gain understanding, learn new skills, rebuild love and get your core needs met.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy

This is a focused approach designed to teach you coping skills, reduce anxiety and depression, change unhelpful beliefs, help you overcome blocks and move forward towards your goals, teach you self-control skills, or new ways of behaving  and communicating, among other issues. This approach is particularly helpful for anxiety disorders, depression, addictive patterns, or difficulty focusing. It is suitable for adults, teens, and kids.

EMDR Therapy

This is a cutting edge mind-body approach that is used to help you process and reduce the life impact of  trauma, insecure attachment, or stressful life events you have experienced. It is designed to lessen automatic mind-body reactions to past events and change inaccurate beliefs about self-worth, safety, or ability to change bad situations. I also use a version of EMDR for addictions to help lessen cravings and make the addictive behavior less reinforcing.

Health Psychology & Eating Disorders

The focus of this therapy is on mind-body issues like eating disorders, struggles with weight, chronic pain, dealing with a chronic illness, sleep, managing unhealthy stress and so on.  I have an additional specialty and training in Health Psychology that provides understanding of the physiological aspects of these issues, the need for a treatment team, and use of a broader mind-body approach and coping program.
